[Electro - Pop] Satellite Stories - Sirens (Slow Magic Remix)

Now i've had a chance to listen to both versions of this song and I have to say I'm actually enjoying the remix a lot more. Satellite Stories is a Finnish band and have a sound that can only be described as TDCC like. Slow Magic takes takes the Finland quartet Satellite Stories 'Sirens' and reworks it into a soothing electronically induced experience merging two genres into one coherent sound. The Fins debut album comes out September 21st.

[Indie - Rock] Telekinesis - Coast of Carolina

When I first heard this song I thought to myself 'this sounds terrible!', that was up until the 35th second where the song sprung into life. Telekinesis are a band from Seattle Washington and all I can say is they know to rock out. The guitars rock and snap, the drums are comfortably creative, and the lead singer's voice possesses enough wistful emotion to that it keeps you hooked and warrants replay after replay.

[Indie - Pop] High Highs - Open Season

Now a track from an Australian duo based in Brooklyn High Highs. 'Open Season' is an immediately endearing slice of indie - pop. The song is an overwhelming crowd pleaser, packing enough punch to thoroughly shock upon first listen. Their sound is like a bittersweet letter to the listener that tears one down to a state of profound honesty, humbling one's soul. Check our their entire EP, I can't honestly fault any of their songs.

[Folk - Pop] Fossil Collective - Let It Go

As a big fan on fat/rich harmonies and relaxed folk tunes, 'Let It Go' from Leeds born Fossil Collective are an intriguing prospect. With big honest harmonies and a gentle sway providing a very credible hook. It's a beautiful piece of work, this track fills the heart to the point of bursting as they sing "We started something/tried to make a fire without a flame/Why it wasn't right i couldn't say.'

[Indie - Rock] Stars - Backlines

The 3rd release from Stars' anticipated LP 'The North' coming out early September. The Canadian outfit however features Amy Millan's vocals leading the song. It's a refreshing bit of pop as we see Amy supported by a string section among other instrumentation. I don't know about you but I'm a sucker for female vocalists in rock/pop songs, like The Grates. Anyways check the song out!

[Alternative] Tourism - City Never Sleeps

I present to you Tourism from Brisbane. Wait a second, they sound awfully British, well sir/madame you have a good ear, two members have relocated from the UK, hence the brit- pop influence. Their song 'City Never Sleep' has a very kooks feel to it, the lead singers accent really comes across in this track which lends it a certain amount of charm. Coupled with some pretty handy guitar work you've got yourself a winning song Tourism.

[Indie - Pop] Youngblood Hawke - We Come Running

For today I leave the best for last, as you do. Let me introduce to you the Youngblood Hawkes, a band hailing from L.A. How can I describe this song? Well it is reminiscent of a big group sound, similar to Grouplove. 'We Come Running' is an anthemic song, something that you could fill a stadium with before a game, there's just something fun about it. Their self-titled EP comes out tomorrow so if you like what you hear check it out!

[Indie - Rock] The 1975 - The City

I have mixed feelings about this song. On one hand i realise the potential that this band has with this song, on the other, I actually hate his voice because it sounds ridiculously english, I can't blame them though they are from Manchester after all. Sooo yeah make what you want of it but I'm still undecided, I am certain however that these guys will be quite popular because this is a 'stop what you're doing and listen' kind of song.

[Alternative] XOV - Stones

I had a real hard time trying to describe this song. When I first heard it I thought to myself; 'Why does he sound so sarcastic?'. Well the sarcasm grew on me and now it is one hell of an addictive song. There's just something really interesting about his voice and the emotion he shows when he sings is definitely apparent. It's no doubt a very moving song and I look forward to hearing from this artist (it's just one guy).

[Synth - Pop] Kisses - Funny Heartbeat

You may or may not have heard Kisses before but let me assure you that the L.A duo are back it again with their new single. 'Funny Heartbeat' is a glistening sun dazed lightweight dance tune co-produced with Saint Etienne's Pete Wiggs. If you haven't already check out their songs, especially 'Bermuda', that one is a real mood booster. I expect their album to be out soon, I mean why would they tempt us with such a buttery tune without releasing one?

[Indie - Rock] Wildlife Control - Brooklyn

Wildlife Control are  a duo from Brooklyn New York, who would've thought? They have just released their self titled debut album and the song 'Brooklyn' is one of the standouts. Drawing inspiration from classic rock and modern 'indietronica' as I like to call it. For a debut album, not bad at all guys, I especially enjoyed the bridge in 'Brooklyn' with the piano and drums.

[Indie - Rock] Wilhelm Tell Me - Favorite Sound

German indie - rock! Apparently these guys are pretty big in Germany and it always amazes me how well european bands sing in english with no hint of their accent, especially Sweden. Anyways more about this song, it's an absolute gem. The chorus hints of Foster the People and Helena Beat, really enjoying their sound and especially can't help to sing along with the chorus. Let's hope we can get these guys popular in Australia!

[Indie - Rock] California Wives - Purple

California Wives (this is a male group) are about to release their debut album 'Art History' in September.  The song 'Purple' has been released to wet our appetites. It contains clever hooks, melodies and phrases in just over two minutes. The lyrics are poppy and the keys adds an underlying texture to the track, making for a remarkably well-constructed indie - rock number.

[Indie - Rock] Loon Lake - Fantastica

Bringing the music back to Australia, Loon Lake have just finished releasing their new EP '33' (free download!). 'Cherry Lips' of course being one of the standout tracks but 'Fantastica' deserves a mention as well. The guitar work in every Loon Lake song is something to be admired and yet again this song showcases this, it hits all the right notes for me.
